The old kingdom of Ladakh, now part of the Indian state of Jammu & Kashmir, is situated along the Indus river in the western Himalayas. This high and dry country, also known as "Little Tibet", and inhabited by a very gay people, is dotted with beautiful monasteries in stunning settings and is probably the best place to see lamaïsm without restrictions.
