AFGHANISTAN

Afghanistan, a dry mountainous landlocked country inhabited by various fierce tribes, is completely ravaged nowadays after 23 years of bloody fighting. In fact, the pictures shown here were taken by me in 1976 and 1978, when the country was still the highlight on the overland route from Europe to India. We wish the Afghan people all the best in rebuilding their shattered lives and nation.
